Carver prides itself on building innovative yachts with more accommodation space and lines per linear foot. The 506 is essentially a raised pilothouse, with the benefit of being fully enclosed and air conditioned with ample lounging areas, and is built using quality long lasting materials and furnishings.

For those who are not familiar with the layout of the Carver 506, this is a true 2 stateroom boat, with an additional guestroom, plus convertible settees for adding sleeping space. Put simply, Footloose could readily sleep 10, with 4 guests sleeping in Queen size en suite cabins. 

Footloose sets itself far apart from the competition. Starting with the bridge, the helm bench is spacious and can readily seat 3 people, with a second row of curved L shaped seating behind, which faces a bar with Norcold refrigerator, Raritan icemaker, and a sink. This set-up is fabulous for entertaining while underway, and provides the captain and guests with raised 360 degree views. A large electric opening sunroof, and two side opening windows provide an enjoyable breeze on a pretty day. Windshield wipers are a must and helpful add-on for wet weather. 

Footloose benefits from a full electronics suite. This includes dual 12” HybridTouch Raymarine Chartplotters, radar, GPS, fishfinder, AIS, Raymarine VHF and more. The engine controls are twin Disc / Power Commander Electronic controls with synchronizer, and dual RPM displays provide engine data. At the helm, the Captain also has access to a VDO Rudder angle indicator, compass, depth, and a Raymarine S100 autopilot.

Stepping down, a large settee with foot stools provides a comfortable, carpeted, relaxation space, with access to both side decks and the aft transom. A TV is mounted facing forward, with additional storage below, to provide an area akin to a sunroom.

Below deck level, the main saloon area is almost overly generous in proportion, and is appointed with rich fixtures and fittings, including varnished woodwork and cabinetry, custom blinds, thick weave carpeting, and additional rugs. On the port side, a double lazyboy-style seat with in-built cupholders faces the TV and entertainment area. This double seat can readily convert into a double bed. Adjacent is a large side table with storage and a lamp, and a wine chiller on the aftward side. On the starboard side is a 3 seater leather couch, which again transforms into an additional berth. The centerline designer coffee table is beautifully designed to look like a wooden rowboat, with a glass table top; it is very much a feature piece.

The entertainment system in the saloon includes a Samsung TV, DVD unit, and surround Yamaha speakers.

Dining in the saloon includes a large round dining table in varnished wood, with four full sized, moveable upholstered dining chairs, positioned below a custom lighting unit. This layout compliments the saloon area, and provides a wonderful amenity for card playing or entertainments after dinner. Storage is abundant in the saloon with significant in-built cabinetry.

The galley is designed to provide the same versatility as a kitchen at home. A full size fridge and freezer unit provides ample refrigeration capacity while on passage. A 3 burner Princess Ceran stove is recessed into the dark countertop. A Contour combination oven provides the ability to microwave, bake, and grill. Next to a counter top snook, which would be ideal for a coffee pot, it a double sink with pullout faucet, and a countertop overlay. In addition to overhead, and below counter storage, Footloose benefits from a built-in trash compactor.

The owner’s cabin is opulent, and includes a large, Queen-sized raised berth, with twin bedside tables with power outlets and bedside lights. The storage in this suite is second to none, and includes 4 hanging lockers, drawer space, dedicated shoe space, and more. A dedicated air conditioning control provides dedicated climate control. The suite benefits from its own separate TV. The vanity unit is forward of the berth, and includes a large lit mirror, under basin space, outlets, and medicine cabinet storage. Towards the stern is a compact bathtub with combination shower head to allow the owners to either bath or shower. On the opposing side is a separate, designed owner’s vacuflush head. The varnished woodwork is impressive and provides a luxurious feel.

The second en suite cabin is well-enough appointed to be a second owner’s cabin. This centerline cabin is located forward, and is underneath the foredeck of the boat. The bed is again a raised, Queen sized berth, with storage below and mounted on both the port and starboard sides. A dedicated hanging locker is on the portside. The second cabin benefits from its own full sized head, with large mirror and vanity, and separate shower stall.

Even the third berth is a true en suite. This cabin is located on the portside and comprises a double cabin with storage. The separate bathroom includes it’s own head and vanity sink, and can also be used as a wet head while on passage. The separate washing machine and dryer and housed within this third cabin behind carefully crafted cabinetry.  

A large opening access hatch in the salon provides the entryway to the vast engine bay. The engine bay area spans the full length of the salon area. Full systems access is easily in reach, rendering systems work a breeze. Footloose is equipped with twin Cummins 6CTA 8.3L upgraded diesel engines, and a 20kW Kohler generator, all of which can be easily serviced in the engine bay area. Further equipment installed in the engine bay includes an electric oil Xchanger system, batteries, and a partial install has been started for a watermaker.
